About
Marny Kindness is an artist and designer based in Rhode Island, where she lives with her husband and two sons. She grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Massachusetts College of Art and Design with a degree in photography. She has worked in art museums in exhibitions management and is passionate about art.
A knitter for 25 + years, Marny became a self-taught knitwear designer six years ago and has since spent years teaching knitting classes — covering everything from socks, textures, and colorwork to full garments with construction, with a particular specialty in troubleshooting and helping knitters work through tricky problems. Community lies at the heart of her practice: she often hosts local weekly/monthly knitting and crafting nights for her local community.
After organizing knitting tours for 2 years, she has created Knit Yonder, a fiber retreat and travel company to bring together makers for unique experiences both near and far. Marny’s passion for travel and her enthusiasm for people (YOU, the fiber community) blends perfectly in this new venture.
When she's not soaking up everything Rhode Island and New England has to offer (vineyards, beaches, shopping, city life, food scene), you'll likely find Marny birdwatching along local nature trails, practicing yoga, wandering galleries of art museums, or traveling the world.
