Vermont Knitting & Fiber Retreat

Join us for a fiber-filled weekend in picturesque Manchester, Vermont. We will stay at a comfortable hotel in a beautiful setting, walking distance from downtown Manchester. We will have 2 field trips - one day we will visit Green Mountain Spinnery in Putney, Vermont where we will take a tour and learn about the whole process from sheep to skein (shearing, scouring, picking, carding, spinning, plying, and more). After spending time in the shop, we’ll head back into town for some down time and exploration. Day 2 we’ll take a bus ride to tour the wonderful Wing and a Prayer Farm in Shraftsbury, VT. After a tour of the farm where we meet all of Tammy’s adorable sheep, we will have a workshop, and have an opportunity to try out the yarns. The group will have a welcome happy hour, knit night social, a knitting workshop, and downtime to explore the cute town. We’ll have plenty of time to unwind, connect and knit with hot cups of tea.

Knitting workshop will include making cabled fingerless mitts out of local farm yarn. If you already know how to cable, you will get to design your own cable and try it out. Knitters of all levels welcome. What to bring for class will be sent in advance.

Transportation from hotel to farm included (small coach van). Must get to the hotel for the retreat on your own. There’s also plenty to explore in the area if you want to stay longer.

This is a working farm, so terrain will be uneven. Must be able to walk through grounds.
